Throughout this manual, you will see the same terminology used repeatedly. A few definitions will help shorten your Gameshow Pro 4 learning curve:
Users, Players - Individuals who play an Gameshow Pro 4 game.
Instructor, Host - Individuals who create games and/or who guide Users or Players through games acting as a game show host.
Buzzers - Ring-in devices used by Users or Players to indicate that they know the answer to a question. A variety of ring-in devices may be used, however Gameshow Pro 4 buzzer systems are integrated with the program & communicate with the software directly, locking out other teams & automatically highlighting the ring-in team's score box for judging. Gameshow Pro 4 buzzer systems may be wired or wireless. Keypads, Transmitters - Wireless devices used by Users or Players to transmit their answers to Gameshow Pro 4 questions. A Host may also use a Keypad or Transmitter to control game flow while moving about the room.
Questions - The set of questions you create for your game/library, which can be organized into any Matches or a Final Round. You can import questions into Gameshow Pro 4 from Gameshow Pro 3 games, and from Tab-Return Formatted Database files. Question Library - Your question data bank that stores your questions for ALL of your Gameshow Pro 4 games. You can drag and drop questions from this library to any of the Matches or Final Rounds.
Question Editor - The fill-in-the-blanks form through which you enter your questions, answers, and information screens as well as associate media with your questions.
Tree View Window -The Library window on the left side of the screen that displays all of your games, setup, matches, questions and libraries. Tree View entries are collapsible and expandable. Answers - The set of answers (1-6) that are presented to Users or Players to choose from when answering a question. Intro Screens - Background information, including explanations, setup scenarios, or media that you can include with each question. You can decide to display this extra information during each game before the question is shown. Hint Screens - Background information, including hints, explanations or media that you can include with each question. You can decide to display this extra information during the game before the question is answered. Info Screens - Background information, including explanations, or media, that you can include with each question. You can decide to display this extra information during the game after the correct answer is shown. Main Menu bar - The bar on the top of the screen that includes drop-down menus for "File", "Game", and "Help".
Game Player - The portion of the Gameshow Pro 4 program that launches your game & plays it. Game Record and Results - The file to which a game records results automatically. In this drop down folder you can see whether a particular game was completed, how many questions were played, the date you started playing the game and the last date on which the game was played. Library File Extension - Gameshow Pro 4 games & all questions are now contained within discrete library files with the extension .GSPLF.
PLAY-ONLY Library File Extension - Gameshow Pro 4 PLAY-ONLY libraries (made by exporting them as PLAY-ONLY libraries), have extensions GSRLF. These libraries can be opened by using Gameshow Pro PLAYER or Gameshow Pro 4 STANDARD.
