Game 1 - Categories is a fast-paced game that is great for reviewing facts. The Sample Game begins with Match 1 containing 5 categories with five questions per category. The questions are worth a varying amount of points ranging from 100-500. The difficulty level of the question usually coincides with the increasing point values. Teams compete for points by first selecting a category and point value. When the question is revealed, teams have an allotted time period to 'ring-in' to answer the question. The first team to ring-in gets the opportunity to answer the question. If the team answers correctly, they win the point value of the question and get to select the next category and point value. If the team is incorrect they lose the point value indicated, and the other teams have an opportunity to ring-in and answer the question. If no team answers the question correctly, or the time runs out before anyone rings in, the answer is revealed and the last team to answer a question correctly gets to select the next category and point value. You may also hide special "bonus questions" that can only be answered by the team that selected that question. That team can wager all or part of their accumulated points. The amount wagered will be added to the contestant's total score if the response is correct and subtracted if the response is incorrect. Other teams are allowed to ring-in, but you may choose to allow them to answer the bonus question if the response is incorrect. The game ends with a "final question" where all the contestants wager points from their accumulated score based on a category heading. After they wager their points, the question in revealed. They are then given 30 seconds to write down their answer to the question. If they answer correctly, the points they wagered are added to their score, if not, they are deducted. The contestant with the highest accumulated score wins the game.
