Definition of AllPlay Terms

Throughout this manual, you will see the same terminology used repeatedly. A few definitions will help shorten your AllPlay 2 learning curve:

Users, Players. Individuals who play an AllPlay 2 game.

Instructor, Host. Individuals who create games and/or who guide Users or Players through games acting as a gameshow host.

Keypads, Transmitters. Wireless devices used by Users or Players to transmit their answers to AllPlay 2 questions. A Host may also use a Keypad or Transmitter to control game flow while moving about the room.

Questions. The set of questions you create for your game, which can be organized into an Opening Round, a Final Round, and a Survey Round. You can import questions into AllPlay 2 from other AllPlay 2 games, from Gameshow Pro 3 games, and from Tab-Return Formatted Database Tables.

Game/Test Questions. Questions for which there is a right answer. Answers to these questions contribute to team outcomes.

Survey Questions. Questions with no right answer. These questions are used to gather audience responses.

Answers. The set of answers (2-5) that are presented to Users or Players to choose from when answering a question.

Info Screens. Background information, including hints, explanations, or graphics, that you can include with each question. You can decide to display this extra information during the game after the correct answer is shown.

Results File. The file to which a game records results. You can choose whether or not to record results and where to store the results file.

Game File Folder. The directory on a computer in which a game file is located. Game results may be stored here or in a different folder.

Results Folder. The directory on a computer into which you want to store game results.

.apr The file extension AllPlay 2 uses for results files.

.apn The file extension AllPlay 2 uses for player to transmitter assignment lists.

.apt The file extension AllPlay 2 uses for transmitter to team assignment lists.
