Playing Self-Administered Games

Setting up and playing self-administered games with AllPlay 2 is easy. To configure a game for self-administered play, select Player as your Game Leader setting in AllPlay 2's Administration Options. These options are described in detail in the "Creating a Game: Setup Screens" chapter.

There are only a few differences between playing self-administered games and playing AllPlay 2 games in the classroom in Instructor mode. When AllPlay 2 games are self-administered:

·You may only have 6 players.  
·No team can have multiple players.  
·You must use wireless keypads 1-6.  

You can launch a self-administered game in three ways:

·By using the Play Menu in AllPlay 2's setup screens,  
·By selecting the Play Game option on AllPlay 2's startup screen, or  
·By double-clicking on a game file icon outside AllPlay 2.  

The first two options are useful for Instructors to use in testing AllPlay 2 games and to simulate what students will experience when they play self-administered games. The third option is for students to use when they are using AllPlay 2 games in self-administered mode. When games are launched outside of AllPlay 2, they start at the game's logo screen and proceed automatically from screen to screen.

All self-administered games display helpful messages onscreen to guide users through the game. The following screens illustrate how a self-administered game is presented to users:

After entering the number of teams that will play the game, AllPlay 2 asks Team 1 to enter their team name:

After Team 1 enters a name, they are asked to press any button their keypad, which must be Keypad #1:

This naming/keypad initialization cycle repeats for each team in the game. Once all teams are setup, the gameshow logo screen is shown, and - after a brief pause - the first question value screen is shown, followed by the first question screen:

The Answer Timer is automatically started in a self-administered game, and contestants are given the onscreen message: Select an answer using your Wireless Keypads. After each team has responded to the question, the correct answer is displayed:

Contestants are given the onscreen message: Please depress any Wireless Keypad button to Proceed. When any contestant presses a keypad button, the question's results display sequence starts, showing bar charts for each team's performance. In this manner, players guide themselves through an AllPlay 2 game question-by-question until a winner is determined.
